Trade with Manupatches and Chrome Scratches

I had recently posted a J-Hey 2011 manupatch as trade bait. I knew that Eric L. over at manupatches and chrome scratches collects them. So I reached out to him and we set up a trade. I gathered up some Rockies, Royals, the J-Hey and a Gio Gonzalez (which has a bad ass manu patch btw). In return I got my first relics!
The picture just doesn't do these cards justice. I love the Gibson card it's definitely in my top 5. I got a Cabrera relic as a Marlin which was also bad ass. Finally, I got a Brave for a Brave in the form of Nate McClouth (a Michigan native too). The sweet spot signatures are awesome cards. If I had the money I'd like to collect more of them. There were several other Tigers cards in the package as well. Aside from a 206 Inge I didn't have any of them. I think I'll use the Inge double to send out a TTM since he lives close by. Anyway all in all it was a great trade! I'm glad the J-Hey went to a loving home and I'm looking forward to trading with Eric again.

I really want this card!

I just found out that Mr. Tiger himself, Al Kaline will be signing autographs at the Lakeside Mall.

Now I can't pass up this opportunity. I've still gotta decide if I wanna pay the steep signing prices, but in the meantime I'm after a base card of Al Kaline that: a) I can add to my collection b) possibly get signed by him.
So if any of you out there have this card or any other base cards of his let me know so we can possibly work out a trade!

overdue 2011 Heritage post

So, I realized tonight that I'm late on the whole 2011 Topps heritage thoughts. I think they're pretty sweet looking. This is my first encounter with any of the Topps Heritage sets and I've gotta say I like the feel of the cards and the colors. If any of you have any that you want to get rid of send them my way. Anyway my girlfriend and I had to swing by Target for something really important.....which was actually an excuse so I could pick up a few packs. I picked up a pack and my girlfriend picked me up two.

My pack was ok:
Twin Terrors Morneau/ Mauer (Sweet a Mauer to add to my collection)
Brennan Boesch (any day I pull a Tiger is a good day)
Heath Bell
Paul Maholm
Carl Yastrzemski Baseball Flash Backs
Justin Upton
Matt Mangini (Mariners RC yay!)
Babe Ruth Greatest Sports Hero
Brandon Snyder

The packs my girlfriend got me were a bit better.
Evan Longoria
Sabathia Tosses a Curve
Dustin Pedroia
Kosuke Fukudome
Roy Oswalt (Shiny #702/1962)
Orlando Hudson
Ivan Rodriguez
Rafael Soriano
Johnny Damon!
Greg Halman
Barry Zito (creepiest card ever...)
Chris Perez
Milwaukee Brewers
Trevor Cahill
Howie Kendrick
Dallas Braden
Derek Lowe
NL HR Leaders

I need to get to Target so I can consume some more. My short term goal is to get all of heritage cards of the Tigers and maybe after that is complete I'll go after the set.

Trade with the Lost Collector

I recently completed two trades that I was pretty pumped for. I reached out to the Lost Collector asking if he had any Damons up for trade. After emailing back and forth for quite a bit we put a trade together. I sent him most of the Yankees I had and in return I got a new Damon, another King Felix, and a stack of Tigers that didn't have yet. All in all it was a great trade! It's unfortunate that I don't have a scanner or otherwise I would show them off. I look forward to trading with him again in the future. If you all haven't seen his blog check it out: http://thelostcollector.blogspot.com/  I swear he gets a TTM back everyday!

COMC and other updates

It has  been a fairly busy week which is the reason why I haven't had a chance to update the blog. Michigan is playing tomorrow against Tennessee  which will be a good game. I've also been pretty busy making trades out there with several of you. Packages will be sent out tomorrow after my last class.

After 4 days of waiting for credits to be added to my COMC account I was finally able to knock some cards out. I had to reassess what I wanted since I wasn't able to spend as much as I wanted....sorry Kaline maybe next time. All in all I think did pretty well. I expanded my Damon collection, and I also added a few other players to my Detroit collection. Here's just a couple cards that I've snagged. I'll update more of what I got after all the offers have been settled, but all in all I haven't done too bad price wise!

It's been a few days

I'm getting pretty excited for the next few weeks. I'm currently working out a couple of trades and with some luck I'll have a few Tigers and another Hernandez to add to my player collection. Also I've gotten midterms back and out of the way so I should have at least 1 or 2 weeks before I have to stress out about getting essays done and what not. I was pleasantly surprised by how I did so I decided to treat myself and order some cards online (at least put them in the shopping cart until I get paid haha).
Here's a couple listed, that I can't wait to add to my collection:
1960 Topps Al Kaline (I've always wanted an original Topps of his, not a reprint and it's at a decent price. Now I need Norm Cash.)
2010 Allen and Ginter Ichiro Relic
2010 206 Mini Frame Johnny Damon Relic (A relic of my favorite player in a Tigers jersey!)
2009 UD Goodwin Champions of JustinVerlander

I'm especially excited for the Verlander. The Goodwin Champions have been one of my favorite card designs since I got back into collecting. This is just a small sample, and with any luck if I get my offers accepted I'll have a few more cards to show off once I get them ordered.

On a side note Seattle has actually been doing ok in spring training. Hopefully they can sort out their shit and maybe not finish bottom of the table. The Tigers should be interesting to watch this year as well. I can't wait to see what the batting order is going to be especially with V-Mart in the lineup this season.

Trade bait

I started a want list that is rather small right now, but I'll be adding more to it over the next week or so. Alright enough advertising the list....(read it and hopefully someone out there will have at least one of those cards).
So the trade bait list isn't that long I have to finish going through some stacks and see what I don't want, but I do have two cards up for trade that some Braves fans may be interested in or even Eric over at Manupatches&Chrome Scratches
(Again checkoutmycards will supply the pics until I find my camera.)

If anyone out there is interested shoot me an email.

First trade since elementary school and...

a stack of Damon's!
About a week ago I reached out to Dennis over at Too Many Grandersons about a possible trade. We got to talking and come to find out he's an alumnus of my university and works right down the road from me. Anyway I gathered up some cards from the 2011 topps (4 Tigers, a couple rookies, a Gehrig and Mantle, and some base cards) in return I got a several awesome Felix Hernandez cards, an Andrew McCutchen to add to my collection, and a stack of Johnny Damon cards mainly from the Royals years.
(I lack a scanner and can't find my camera so checkoutmycards will provide the images of some of my favorites)
A #ed Felix!

'94 Damon prospect
 '05 Damon refractor

'10 Bowman Damon that I needed for my Tigers set
Action Packed '94 Damon

There are a lot of other cards, but it would take me forever to upload all of the pics. I'm very pleased with the trade and hopefully we'll be able to trade again soon. If you guys don't follow Dennis's blog here it is: http://toomanycg.blogspot.com/

First run in with Topps Diamond Giveaway

So, thanks to my girlfriend I had 8 codes to input for the giveaway. I was a little hesitant this year since the only good cards I got from the Million Card Giveaway Was Ryne Sandberg that I traded for a Zumaya rookie and a '96 Damon that I got after trading several cards for. Luckily this time around I got 2 cards out of the 8 that I'll keep.
They are:

I like '75 Yankees layout it's a pretty sweet card. The '58 Pearson was a surprise. I was convinced Topps was only giving out junk wax. I can't say that I know much about this guy, but hey it's a '58 and the oldest card in my collection.
Here's the rest of my haul:

I figured I'd use the other six to trade with...

1st Post

After being registered for over a month I finally had the time to create my first blog. I've had a lot to post about, but unfortunately studying for midterms hindered the excitement I had about posting on a certain topic so I put it off. I have a number of goals for this blog. First and foremost I'm gonna try and post every other day as I know trying to post daily is unrealistic for a college student juggling school, work, and a girlfriend. Second I'd like to make this blog as entertaining as the ones that I've stumbled upon. With any luck my blog will help you all kill time at work like the ones that I follow have helped me. Finally, I'd like to use this as a place to trade cards and meet some awesome people along the way.
On a side note it will take me some time to get things up and running. I'm working on a want list right now and a trade list (which will pretty much be National League teams since I'm tired of pulling Marlins and Padres).
Anyway let the blogging begin!
